From Mr. Romero at FHS Regarding Student Protest

posted Mar 12, 2018, 8:05 AM by Susan Stewart

Dear Redcat Family,

The news has widely reported on a growing student protest movement centered on the February 14, 2018, tragic school shooting in Florida. Student safety is our top priority; therefore, we at Fowler High School have organized an event for March 14, 2018, that will allow for students’ voices to be heard, but doing so in a safe environment while remaining on the Fowler High School campus. I commend our ASB leadership, because it is through their planning that they have come up with a 17 minute “walk in” program that will respectfully remember all those who lost their lives on February 14.  We will gather in our quad area, on the interior of the school at 9:40 am. At that time, student speakers will address their peers. Also during this time, we will hear from Fowler Police Chief, Rudy Alcaraz, and other leaders from the communities of Fowler and Malaga. The program will conclude with a moment of silence and a tribute to the victims of Florida. I continue to ask for your cooperation and support in speaking to your child regarding this alternative opportunity we have planned. Having an event such as this on our Fowler High School campus, ensures student safety in lieu of walking off campus.

Sincerely,

Mr. Romero
