Fowler Unified Announces New Transitional Kindergarten Expansion Program

posted Aug 13, 2015, 3:20 PM by Susan Stewart   [ updated Aug 25, 2015, 8:54 AM ]

In July, Governor Brown signed legislation that permits school districts to expand Transitional Kindergarten (TK) programs to include more children outside of the current eligibility window of September 2 - December 2. School districts now have the flexibility to enroll children in Transitional Kindergarten, at the start of the 2015-2016 school year, who will turn 5 after December 2. To be considered for the Fowler Unified TK Expansion Program, a child must turn 5 between December 3, 2015 - January 31, 2016. Placement in a TK classroom will be based on class enrollment / space availability and whether admittance to the program is in the best interest of the child. Fowler Unified will implement the TK expansion option at Marshall Elementary School, beginning the first day of school. Classes begin August 18.
